Project Summary
AGR delivered wellsite geology and operations geology support for the high pressure, high temperature (HPHT) appraisal drilling campaign at the Carmen discovery in the Norwegian North Sea.
The campaign used the Deepsea Yantai semi submersible rig, managed by Odfjell Drilling, during the 96-day drilling campaign.
The appraisal programme was located in production licence PL1148, approximately 25 km northwest of the Troll field in the Northern North Sea.
AGR also delivered wellsite geology support during the Carmen exploration drilling, contributing to the successful discovery in 2023.

The two well appraisal programme aimed to reduce volumetric uncertainty and confirm recoverable volumes to support the evaluation of a potential subsea tie back development to nearby infrastructure.
The appraisal well was designed as an HPHT well and was planned to reach a total depth of approximately 4,200 metres in water depths of 360–365 metres.
AGR’s scope of work included providing experienced wellsite geologists and operations geologists to support geological input, ensure the well meets its geological targets, supervise reservoir sampling and logging operations, support operational decision-making throughout the drilling campaign, and contribute to post-drilling geological evaluation and reporting.
The appraisal drilling of the HPHT 35/10-16 S well confirmed the gas/condensate discovery of the previously drilled 35/10-10 S (“Carmen”) wellbore.
