Operations Geology Advisor

Purpose of position/ general responsibility:

  • Provide geological expertise and operational support to ensure safe, efficient, and optimized drilling activities. Act as the primary link between subsurface teams and drilling operations, delivering real-time geological advice and ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements

Tasks:

Operated Assets/Wells

  • Ensure quality and timely acquisition of geological and geophysical data to meet well objectives.
  • Prepare and agree on Data Acquisition Program with geoscience team and Exploration Manager.
  • Monitor, analyse, and evaluate all G&G data during drilling and keep objectives updated
  • Provide daily geological updates and reports to management, partners, and authorities.
  • Act as focal point for site survey coordination with Geophysicist.
  • Design and integrate data acquisition program into drilling plans, tenders, and studies
  • Collaborate with well delivery team to mitigate geological hazards and optimize drilling efficiency.
  • Prepare geological section of drilling program and cost estimates for AFE.
  • Supervise and provide technical support for wellsite geology, LWD, and wireline operations.
  • Perform log analysis and interpretation to ensure QC of all geological data and reports.
  • Prepare composite log, CPI, and geological input for End of Well Report. Also participate in post-well reviews.
  • Update operational procedures and be part in evaluating new technologies for LWD/wireline.
  • Verify invoices for geological services.

Non-Operated Assets/Wells

  • Engage with operator to develop and assure quality of Data Acquisition Program.
  • Monitor and evaluate G&G data to meet company objectives and be a point of contact for the internal teams.
  • Act as focal point for non-operated well operations and capture lessons learned for future efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree or equivalent in geoscience
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant geological and petrophysical experience of which the majority has been gained with an oil company
  • Minimum of 3 years offshore experience
  • A broad experience from offshore operations
  • Knowledge of Norwegian Rules and Regulations (only if demanded by wellsite schedule)
  • Project management skills
  • Thorough knowledge of operations geology and formation evaluation.
  • Good working knowledge of log analysis and integration of geological data.
  • Good overview of specialist analytical studies which commonly follow an exploration well
  • Knowledge of LWD and Wireline logging tools from all leading vendors
