Add Energy Well Control advisory delivers complex Plug and Abandonment operation in South-East Africa

ABL Group company, Add Energy, has been involved in a challenging Plug and Abandonment (P&A) operation in South-East Africa. The aim of the work scope was to ensure the safe and cost-efficient abandonment of a well while mitigating existing operational and environmental risks.

The successfully delivered P&A operations involved the placement of multiple barriers in the wellbore to isolate the reservoir and fluid-bearing formations. The primary objective was to establish well integrity, ensuring that the plugged well remained secure and free from leaks post-abandonment. To achieve this, permanent well barriers had to span the entire wellbore’s cross section.
