We are delighted to be involved in the establishment of the Centre of Decommissioning Australia (CODA) launched by the National Energy Resources Australia (NERA) today.
CODA is a collaboration across the industry to address the challenges and maximise the opportunities of decommissioning Australia’s oil & gas infrastructure.
Working alongside many of the world’s leading Oil & Gas Operators, such as Chevron, Woodside Energy, Santos Limited, Esso Australia, Vermilion Oil & Gas Australia, and BHP, and service and research organizations, such as Baker Hughes, Atteris, Linch-Pin, Xodus Group and Curtin University, the announcement strengthens AGR’s position as an industry leader in well and field abandonment projects.
AGR has a worldwide reputation for its innovative, safe and environmentally friendly solutions to decommissioning challenges gained from over 30 years’ experience. During this time AGR has engaged with a wide range of Operators, National Oil Companies, Regulators and Government bodies to provide expert decommissioning engineering support and project management services.
The Centre of Decommissioning Australia will benefit from AGR’s extensive local knowledge, gained from the delivery of full project management services on the Puffin Field subsea abandonment and decommissioning campaign. AGR also continues to provide ongoing engineering and regulatory support to a number of Operators in the region.
CODA will also have access to support from the greater AGR group and its extensive experience in the delivery of other Well Decommissioning operations globally including the current operations in the Irish Sea where AGR is managing the decommissioning of 24 wells on behalf of Kinsale.
Commenting on the launch of CODA, Lynden Duthie, VP Well Management at AGR, said, “With NERA estimating potentially over $50 billion of work over the next 50 years, it’s clear that the decommissioning opportunities in Australia have only just begun. AGR is proud to be involved with CODA in helping understand opportunities, supporting planning and execution, and fostering innovation. We can’t wait to share our expertise.”
