We aided our client to optimize well production through an efficient well management solution.

What we did

Our Well Management & Engineering team provided the following work to support our client’s platform well services:

  • Management of the intervention preparation in accordance with assurance plan processes
  • Integrated Activity Planning
  • Preparation of Well Specific Guidelines and Well Programs
  • Equipment Certification Process (creation of an equipment and material certification process to assist with regulatory and operational compliance. As part of our QA/QC management systems, certification process is verified and validated by independent group prior to equipment mobilization to site)
  • Personnel Logistics (coordinate helicopter and fixed wing travel for interventions)
  • Implementation of new technology and product development processes
  • Equipment qualification and verification
  • Site Integration Testing / Factory Acceptance Testing
  • Wellsite management
  • Management to Barrier Standards, including specification of pre-qualification, installation and verification steps
  • Process safety leadership – All our supervisors are required to comply with offshore process safety standards by achieving safety critical officer accreditation, ensure / verify process safety philosophy is in place at all times
  • End of well close out, including reporting, after action reviews, non-compliance reports and inventory management
  • Led studies aimed at improving equipment reliability, platform logistics and perimetry systems and the development and implementation of new technology

In addition to this, in collaboration with our industry partners, provided wellhead Maintenance, Well kill and other non-routine well service activities.

What we delivered:

  • Completed “design work readiness” before each well intervention activity
  • Identified and recorded improvement opportunities for implementation into future intervention planning and service provision
  • Multi intervention campaigns (back to back) completedAssisted in supplying cross trained resources to Drilling and Completion department, including:
  • Light Well Intervention – Well Services support
  • Module Distribution Unit Work – Shared resources
  • Modular on Platform – Logistics and QA
  • Introduction and trial of new technology for improved MTTF (mean time to failure) for insert safety valves
  • Supply of engineering support
  • Well Life extension including:
  • Review all platform wells and all relevant well data, including
  • Intervention history
  • Surveillance data
  • Maintenance records
  • Barriers
  • Well status
  • Determination of trends in failure modes
  • Made recommendations for additional well data gathering during intervention campaigns

Value added to client project

  • The design acceptance window is discussed, reviewed and approved in advance (30 days) prior to conducting any intervention operations to help ensure they are safe and successful
  • The intervention life cycle process and procedures, are designed to deliver the scope efficiently and able to maintain a continues improvement philosophy
  • Enables the operator to gain access to an expert, experienced and competent team who are capable of handling multi interventions over long periods of time. As part of this value adding integrated solution, our material and travel coordinators support the campaign in order to ensure it runs efficiently and without delay.

In supplementing operations with our experts, the operator was able to:

  • Gain access to intervention and process safety expert advice
  • Enhance the competency of the team
  • Assure compliance with standards
  • Gain access to training and mentorship through the experienced engineers supplied
  • Enables the operator to extend the operating life of safety critical components whilst assuring safety and integrity of the equipment
  • Enables the operator to gain access to additional intervention expert knowledge to support the development of solutions for complex well integrity challenges
  • Allows the operator to optimize existing producing assets and expand the operating life to enable operations to meet their production targets while attaining a low operating cost
