Earlier this month, we proudly participated in the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Forum in Oslo, Norway. This first-of-its-kind event, hosted by Howden Insurance Brokers, gathered experts from legal, technical, and insurance disciplines to tackle the challenges of developing Hub & Cluster CCS projects.

Our CCS subject matter expert, Dr. Ole B. Rygg, presented our perspective on managing technical challenges in CO transport, injection, and geological CO2 storage.

At the Howden hosted event, Rygg highlighted five key considerations critical to scaling CCS safely and effectively – from aligning emitters with storage hubs and addressing subsurface uncertainties to managing public perception and enabling cross-border collaboration.

“Scaling CCS demands more than technical capability. It requires close cooperation between emitters, storage operators, regulators, and investors – all working together to de-risk the value chain,” said Rygg.

Nearly Two Decades of Experience in CCS value chain

With almost 20 years of involvement in CCS projects globally, we continue to support Operators, certification bodies, regulators, and investors in delivering safe and cost-effective solutions to CO2 value chain that contribute to net-zero goals.

Our expertise spans the full CCS project lifecycle – from early feasibility to full-field development – helping clients navigate the scientific, technological, and operational challenges of CCS.

We deliver trusted consultancy in:

  • Feasibility studies – including petrophysics, CO plume modelling, and well costing
  • Storage site screening and geological characterisation
  • Independent third-party evaluations and ISO27914 certification support
  • Well integrity assessments for repurposing assets for CO storage
  • Well design and drilling for CO injection wells
  • Engineering support for CO transport, including CO2 carrier design

From evaluating depleted reservoirs to ensuring long-term storage integrity, our team delivers fit-for-purpose solutions grounded in real-world experience.
