Our Drilling & Wells team in Australia combines technical excellence with commercial thinking to deliver well operations safely, efficiently, and with consistently high performance. Our clients value the way we work — we bring strong teamwork, a continuous improvement mindset, and the discipline to learn from every job.
In intervention work, plans can change fast, so flexibility and operational discipline are essential, along with the ability to capture lessons learned and turn them into practical improvements that strengthen the next execution.

Hobbies: Love to spend time cooking (outdoors in Australia!). If I’m not doing that or playing sports with my son, then I’m most likely working on home DIY projects around the house.
Favourite movie: Big fan of movies from the 80s, give me any comedy or action movie from that era, and I will be happy!
1. Give us a glimpse into your day-to-day life at AGR so far. What keeps you on your toes?
We manage an intervention work scope which involves over 40x wells across two platforms. Although most of these are planned in advance, the nature of the intervention is that we could be required to change plans at any time. We need to be able to adapt to any work that comes our way.
2. What drew you to our industry and what keeps you passionate about it?
Growing up in Aberdeen, Scotland the oil & gas industry offered many different career paths and opportunities to work globally. I love the fact we are willing to take on challenges through the use of “new technology”. Improving the way we work through new methods and practices allow for continuous improvement.
3. Can you tell us more about importance of your role in ensuring safe and efficient operations?
The role of senior well engineer includes management of AARs (After Action Reviews) and managing the close out of operational efficiencies.
After every intervention I will work with the offshore well service supervisors to understand where we can implement operational improvements, HSE awareness and general improvements.
4. Beyond the work, what’s your favourite part about being part of the AGR team in Australia? Any fun team moments you’d like to share?
We have a great team; from morning coffee catch ups to plenty of interesting kitchen discussions! Sports, politics, favourite beer this month. We cover most subjects!
5. If you could change one thing about your industry, what would it be and why?
People have become hesitant of promoting the work they do in the oil and gas industry; we should not be ashamed of what we do.
