Principal accountability

Pre-Drill Planning:

  • Collaborate with geoscience and drilling teams to design well plans and casing strategies.
  • Prepare geological prognoses, pore pressure predictions, and mud weight recommendations.
  • Coordinate with service providers to ensure readiness of geological services.
  • Prepare and coordinate necessary applications for drilling

Drilling Operations:

  • Monitor and interpret real-time geological and drilling data to guide well placement.
  • Liaise with wellsite geologists and drilling engineers to ensure alignment with subsurface targets.
  • Provide daily updates and reports to internal stakeholders and partners.
  • Troubleshoot geological challenges such as overpressure zones or wellbore instability.

Post-Drill Activities:

  • Compile final well reports including composite logs and formation evaluations.
  • Participate in post-well reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure quality control and archiving of geological data.

 

Main tasks

  • Provide input to risk analysis, well design, data acquisition plan, geological evaluation and pore pressure prediction
  • Geological supervision of drilling operations
  • Responsible for successful acquisition of data as detailed in Data Acquisition Plan, delivery of all Geological Deliveries to Subsurface teams including Daily Geological Report, monitoring and quality assurance of service provider deliverables
  • Responsible for capturing lessons learned during operations to ensure continuous improvement within the company.
  • Responsible for QC/ archiving of acquired data/reports and completion of Final Well report.

Knowledge and experience

  • Sc University degree in Geology or other relevant education.
  • Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in the petroleum industry within the G&G area.
  • Experience in practical usage of Petrel.
  • Experience in required applications for drilling
  • Offshore drilling operations, horizontal and deviated well planning and execution.
  • Familiarity with NCS regulations and standards.
  • Experience with work processes in Operator Production Licenses
  • Experience in well planning and offshore operations
  • Pore, fracture gradient and wellbore stability prognosis experience is of advantage
  • Fluent in English and preferably fluent in Norwegian, both verbal and written
  • Experience in Petrel, Gravitas or other relevant software M. Sc. university degree in geoscience, or other relevant education
