HSSE Advisor (Supply Base)

AGR is seeking an experienced supply base HSSE Supervisor to join our Client’s dynamic team in Varna, Bulgaria.

The HSSE Supervisor (Logistics Base) will support a deepwater exploration campaign in the Black Sea (offshore Bulgaria).  Drilling is due to commence in October, with two exploration wells and a well test planned.

The full-time contract position is for approximately 8 months commencing in July / August. Working Monday to Friday.

**Due to project requirements, preference will be given to candidates who are EU nationals or have existing EU work rights**

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate’s responsibilities include to:

• Ensure all operations conducted by Bon Marine at Lesport Port, LMP, Waste management base ,align with applicable HSE legislation and Client HSE standards, and international best practices.
• Oversee lifting, slinging, and handling of heavy and tubular materials (e.g., drill pipes, casings) ensuring use of certified equipment and qualified personnel.
• Supervise cargo loading and offloading operations for offshore supply vessels, ensuring safe coordination between marine crews and shore base teams.
• Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), toolbox talks, and risk assessments prior to critical operations.
• Enforce adherence to the Client’s Life-Saving Rules and proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards.
• Carry out regular inspections of lifting equipment, yard facilities, PPE compliance, and vessel berthing areas.
• Perform regular HSE inspections on lifting gear, forklifts, cranes, and storage areas; participate in internal and external audits.
• Lead or support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
• Ensure emergency response equipment is available, operational, and personnel are trained for emergencies.
• Record and investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts/conditions. Maintain HSE documentation and report to management.

About You:

• Minimum 15 years HSSE experience
• 10 years experience working in the oil and gas sector for an Operator
• Previous rig or supply base experience
• Previous experience working under or with EU/Bulgarian HSE regulations in offshore environments and marine vessel operations.
• Experience with international HSSE standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IMO, MARPOL, LOLER, DNV Standard).
• Solid understanding of lifting plans, load charts, and equipment certifications.

Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred).
• Valid NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent.
• Lifting Operations certification (e.g., LOLER, OPITO Banksman/Slinger).
• Valid medical certificate, and any certifications required under Bulgarian offshore legislation.
