We are excited to congratulate our client, Wellesley Petroleum, along with their license partner Equinor, on their recent hydrocarbons discovery in the Gnomoria appraisal well in the North Sea.

The well is located approximately 100 kilometers southwest of Florø in the 35/10-12 S area.

Our dedicated wellsite geologists played an integral role in this campaign aboard the COSLPromoter, bringing a wealth of experience from analyzing and delivering over 200 wells on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. This collaboration marks a significant achievement in the ongoing exploration of the North Sea.

Key Highlights:

Discovery Size: Preliminary estimates suggest the discovery holds between 0.8 to 4 million standard cubic meters of recoverable oil equivalent (Sm³ o.e.), translating to 5 to 25 million barrels o.e.

Strategic Location: Gnomoria is strategically situated in an area with multiple discoveries. The licensees are now evaluating the potential for a tie-back to existing infrastructure.

Well Details: The well was drilled to a vertical depth of 3346 meters below sea level (3805 meters measured depth below sea level) and was terminated in the Heather Formation in the Upper Jurassic.

Water Depth: The site is located at a depth of 363 meters.

Operations: The well has been permanently plugged and abandoned. Although it was not formation tested, extensive data acquisition and sampling were successfully conducted.

This discovery is a significant milestone, and our Operations & Wellsite Geology team are proud to have been part of this successful campaign. Congratulations to Wellesley Petroleum and the entire team involved in making this achievement possible!
