Michelle Eliassen is part of our Blowout Contingency & Well Control team. Her primary focus involves inserting, revising, and editing procedures for our clients. This includes startup/shutdown procedures and maintenance procedures for various offshore equipment such as pumps and tanks.

Let’s get to know Michelle a bit more!

1. Favourite movie

Some of my favourite movies are The Lord of the Rings movies.

2. What does your day-to-day look like at AGR?

A typical day usually begins with arriving at the office and checking my email inbox. Replying to messages and eventually completing tasks from the day before, if any. Start updating new procedures/doing tasks, emailing co-workers or the client offshore if I have any questions.

I usually have lunch with the rest of the ABL Group office in Stavanger and then take a little coffee break afterwards, if there’s no pending work. The rest of the day usually consists of more work, before heading home or off to a workout.

3. What made you pick a career in Energy?

Started in the oil and gas industry as an “process technician” apprentice at Mongstad oil refinery. Then it developed in to becoming a technical author in 2013. I have been here since. My first role included a project with a duration for about 6 months, and then I got hired in an permanent position afterwards, which I was very grateful for.

4. Tell us a bit about your career development at AGR

My career has been stable and I do the same work as before, but now with even more great colleagues at the office. Since I joined AGR, there have been significant changes in how computer programmes and technology are used. These advancements have made my work more efficient and provided a valuable learning curve along the way.

5. What does AGR do to enable your professional advancement and work-life balance?

A healthy work- life balance is very important to me for both my mental and physical health. AGR provides a great work-life balance, making it easy to enjoy free time and pursue personal interests.

6. What does the future look like in energy and oceans?

I am positive that things will work out. Expect some ups and downs, which is normal, but I’m excited to see the transition and greater mix of energy sources. I hope I will be able to take part of it in some shape or form.
