This month, we’re shining the spotlight on our marine and survey management services. And what better way to showcase our marine operations capabilities and offshore solutions than by introducing one of the team members behind them?

Please meet Tobias, our Marine Specialist based in Stavanger.

Since joining AGR in January 2025, Tobias has been immersed in the dynamic world of marine operations – balancing project planning, offshore follow-ups, and on-site coordination. Passionate about the sea and oceans, and driven by a desire to be part of an ever-evolving energy industry, he brings hands-on experience and a commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable integrated solutions.

When not ensuring smooth marine operations, you’ll find Tobias jogging, hiking in the mountains, or spending quality time with family and friends.

We sat down with Tobias to ask him a few questions:

1. Favourite movie / book / song:

Book: Wilbur Smith – Katastrofen

2 .What does your day-to-day look like at AGR?

Days at AGR fly by! No days are the same: one moment I’m following up on projects from the office, and the next I’m offshore or onboard a vessel checking in on operations. Things turn fast. This is a role that keeps me moving between planning, coordination, and operational follow-up out in the field. Then it is about following up projects afterwards. That mix is a perfect combination.

3. What made you pick a career in energy?

I have always been looking at the ocean and starting at the sea in the early days. The most common career in Norway is a career in the energy industry – mostly offshore industry. This industry is constantly developing/evolving. The offshore industry contributes to safer, smarter solutions and of course more sustainable operations.

Eventually this led me to marine operations and to AGR.

4. Tell us a bit about your career development at AGR

Since joining, I have had the chance to work on a wide range of marine operations, with everything from projects follow-up, but also being able to be at the sea to get the hands-on experience. The career has allowed me work on challenges and learning from my colleagues who are very experienced within marine operations segment. With this combination, this helps develop me to give the high standards we aim to deliver to our clients.

5 .Can you tell us about something exciting you are working on right now?

Right now, I’m offshore supporting a rig move for one of our trusted clients. It’s an exciting operation where timing, coordination, and safety are key. The rig is now securely moored, and the vessels involved are on their way back to shore.

6. What does AGR do to enable your professional advancement and work-life balance?

If something comes up on the home front, I know I have the support I need. AGR is always there to follow up and assist if I have any questions or needs, which really helps maintain a good work-life balance.

7. What does the future look like in energy and oceans?

The future of energy and oceans looks bright.

There will always be a need for energy, and with that comes endless opportunities – especially in the marine section.
