Senior Petroleum Engineer – Production Technology and Asset Optimisation Engineer

Purpose

Improve production performance and value from producing assets by integrating well, reservoir and production-system understanding.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform well and production-network modelling to identify optimisation and debottlenecking opportunities.
  • Develop production forecasts and recommendations with Subsurface, Operations, and Drilling and Wells.
  • Identify, evaluate and mature reservoir and well opportunities that can increase recovery, production and economic value.
  • Assess production constraints and communicate expected value, uncertainty and operational implications.

Suggested profile

Well-performance and network modelling; production operations and reservoir performance; ability to translate analysis into practical asset recommendations.

Common responsibilities

  • Contribute actively to the Petroleum Engineering network through knowledge sharing, technical assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate effectively across disciplines, assets, projects and organisational interfaces.
  • Prepare clear, traceable and decision-oriented technical documentation.
  • Identify and communicate uncertainty, risk and value implications.
  • Work in accordance with applicable safety requirements, technical standards and the client’s values.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or another relevant technical discipline.
  • Five to seven years of relevant petroleum engineering experience. Clarify before publication whether this is a target range or whether five years is the minimum.
  • Practical experience from at least one of these areas: field development, production optimisation, reservoir management, well planning or well delivery.
  • Sound understanding of relevant petroleum engineering analytical methods and PVT behaviour.
  • Ability to communicate analyses, assumptions, uncertainties and recommendations clearly in English.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.

Preferred or role-dependent:

  • Experience from producing assets and production operations.
  • PetEx or comparable well-performance and production-network modelling software.
  • Experience with network modelling, production forecasting and production-system analysis.
  • Location: Stavanger, Oslo or Trondheim
