Rock-solid teamwork delivers record-breaking results in Yggdrasil

We are proud to have supported Aker BP as part of the integrated drilling and wellsite geology crew onboard the Deepsea Stavanger rig, contributing to the successful delivery of exploration targets during the recent campaign in the Yggdrasil area.

The drilling campaign in Yggdrasil area had five exploration targets, including the Omega, Alfa, Alfa South, Sigma NE, and Pi wells and featured several record-breaking ultra-long horizontal reservoir sections.

The campaign set new records, with the longest well extending to 10,666 metres and three branches surpassing 10,000 metres — the longest ever drilled on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Our operations and wellsite geologists brought their deep expertise and reliable technical excellence, which helped reduce uncertainty and drive performance.

Congratulations to Aker BP and their partners on the record and also significant discovery made in the Yggdrasil area during this campaign.

With a heritage dating back to 1997, AGR provides energy companies with one of the industry’s most experienced subsurface and wellsite geology teams, combining regional insight with global operational know-how.

Clients choose us for continuity in the quality of our work — many of our Wellsite and Operations Geologists have worked together across multiple wells, ensuring seamless knowledge transfer, clear communication, and consistent performance. We assess and quantify subsurface risk, combining sound geological judgement with analytical modelling to deliver actionable insight, achieving safe and efficient drilling operations.
