AGR’s Reservoir Management & Subsurface team has been entrusted by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate to enhance the competence and capabilities of experts at the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU).
Uganda’s petroleum resources are managed by PAU. We provided training to their experts to develop their skills in petroleum resource assessment and resource management, ensuring effective management and optimal production of the discovered Ugandan petroleum resources.
This initiative is part of the Uganda-Norway energy sector collaboration and is financed by the Norwegian government’s Oil for Development (OfD) aid programme.

The OfD’s support aims to bolster the management of Uganda’s oil and gas sector, empowering Ugandan authorities to develop the necessary knowledge to strengthen the State Petroleum Administration in the upstream sector and guide Uganda on its journey to first oil in 2025.
AGR’s role in this endeavor included delivering tailored training to Ugandan professionals in the audit of petroleum reserves and resources provided by the operating companies in Uganda.
These reserves and resource estimates are crucial for the government to plan income and activities for the coming years.
The overarching goal of Phase 3 of the Oil for Development Programme is poverty reduction in Uganda through the economically, environmentally, and socially responsible management of petroleum resources. With a specific focus on resource management, the three-week training programme aimed to ensure the sustainable utilization of petroleum resources to meet the needs of present and future generations in Uganda.
With a track record of delivering over 200 resource and reserves evaluations to an international clientele, our team is well-prepared to train Ugandan officials in resource management, contributing to the sustainable management of petroleum resources in the country.
