1. Give us a glimpse into your day-to-day life at AGR Consultancy, the resourcing arm of AGR, so far. What keeps you on your toes?
My day revolves around connecting with as many talented professionals as possible and convincing them to take on exciting roles with our clients. It’s a mix of relationship-building and strategic matchmaking. Once they’re onboard, I make sure they feel valued and included as part of our AGR family.
Keeping consultants happy and engaged is a full-time mission — and that’s what keeps me sharp every day.
2. What drew you to recruitment and what keeps you passionate about it?
I’ve always found it fascinating to work with people while competing to secure the best talent for the best roles. Recruitment is like a high-stakes puzzle — you need to find the perfect fit for both sides. That challenge, combined with the human element, is what makes me passionate about this field.
3. Can you tell us about something exciting you are working on right now?
One of the most exciting challenges I’m tackling right now is staying ahead in a market that never sits still. Recruitment isn’t just about filling roles – it’s about predicting what skills will be in demand tomorrow and making sure we’re ready today.
It’s like playing chess while the board keeps changing shape! We’re exploring new strategies to identify emerging talent pools and leveraging technology to make smarter, faster decisions.
It’s a mix of analytics, creativity, and a little bit of detective work, and that’s what makes it fun.
4. In your role, what do you see as the biggest challenges facing the energy talent management and how can these be effectively addressed to cover gaps?
One of the biggest challenges is the growing skills gap as the energy sector transitions toward greener solutions. Traditional expertise is still critical, but new competencies in digitalisation, sustainability, and renewables are in high demand.
To bridge this gap, companies need to invest in upskilling and reskilling programs, foster flexible work arrangements to attract diverse talent, and build strong partnerships with educational institutions. It’s about creating a talent pipeline that’s future-proof.
5. Beyond the work, what’s your favourite part about being part of the AGR Consultancy team? Any fun team moments you’d like to share?
The people! There are so many great and friendly colleagues at the Stavanger office — it makes getting out of bed in the morning easy. Whether it’s sharing laughs over coffee or collaborating on big projects, the team spirit here is incredible. We’ve had some fun moments, from spontaneous lunch outings to lively discussions.
6. If you could change one thing about your industry, what would it be and why?
I’d love to see even more transparency and collaboration between companies and consultants. Sometimes processes can feel overly rigid or transactional. Making the industry more open and relationship-driven would benefit everyone — clients, consultants, and recruiters alike.
Thank you, Joakim, for sharing your thoughts with us.
