This summer, we successfully carried out a well intervention campaign on the Draugen platform, planned by our Drilling & Wells team in collaboration with our client, OKEA ASA.
Draugen well intervention project description
Originally scheduled for 2020, the project was postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19.
What did we do?
Ross Offshore (Part of AGR) Drilling & Wells team successfully replaced the X-mas Trees (XMT) on wells A4 and A6, along with a Coil Tubing – Gas Lift String replacement in well A4. In well A1, we replaced a Gas Lift Valve (GLV) and installed a straddle with a Downhole Safety Valve (DHSV).
As part of our simultaneous operations (SIMOPS), we also installed an activated Kill Wing Valve (KWV) on well A2. Across all wells, we carried out an extended maintenance program for the X-mas Tree and Wellhead systems and installed a Double Block & Bleed (DB&B) system on annulus valves.
What value did our well intervention team bring?
- Good planning
- Good HSE and risk evaluations work
- Good support from suppliers and relevant client departments
- Good interface and clarification work between different vendors
- Good logistics planning and solutions
The entire operation was completed safely, well within the planned timeframe, and without any injuries to personnel. Only minor incidents with low-risk potential were recorded.
