Main Accountabilities

  • The position entails the role of an operator of lifting equipment in accordance with NORSOK R-003, Appendix A.
  • Primary responsibility for monitoring lifting equipment.
  • Ensure that damaged lifting equipment, or equipment suspected of not meeting the requirements, is quarantined.
  • Contribute to maintaining high technical integrity of lifting equipment.
  • Contribute to resolving operational and maintenance issues related to lifting equipment in accordance with strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support for maintenance and certification activities.
  • Perform deck work, which includes, but is not limited to, the roles of signalman and rigger in accordance with NORSOK R-003, Appendix A.
  • Follow up maintenance in SAP (lifting equipment, material handling equipment, fall protection equipment, etc.).
  • Proactive HSE support within the field, focusing on ensuring compliance with existing directives and guidelines.
  • Update and coordinate activities with VE land-based support.
  • Any other tasks within the area of expertise as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Oversee the issuance and inspection of fall protection equipment.
  • Provide training on the use of the client’s fall protection equipment.
  • Safety Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to health, safety, and the environment based on Norwegian regulatory requirements for health, safety, and the environment.
  • VE guidelines for health, safety, and the environment.
  • VE safety management program.

Main Tasks

  • The position involves performing work in various roles as needed, as instructed by the immediate supervisor. All work must be performed in accordance with the provisions of the client’s management system. The Crane and Lifting Manual is central to the management system.
  • For the role of lifting equipment operator:
  • Operate the deck crane within the limits specified in the load chart and operations manual, as well as the client’s Crane and Lifting Manual.
  • Ensure that only marked, certified, and suitable lifting equipment is used for lifting operations.
  • Maintain lifting equipment.
  • Perform first-line maintenance according to the client’s requirements.
  • Ensure that lifting equipment is maintained according to the requirements in the client’s maintenance system.
  • Ensure that all maintenance of lifting equipment is carried out safely.
  • Oversee maintenance personnel.
  • Promote workplace training.
  • Ensure that all personnel participating in lifting operations under their leadership have the necessary qualifications and experience.
  • Participate in safety meetings and safety drills.
  • For deck work:
  • Participate in the planning of deck work, including lifting operations.
  • Function in the following roles as needed: signalman, rigger, deck operator, and crane operator.
  • Ensure that only marked, certified, and suitable lifting equipment is used for lifting operations.
  • Participate in safety meetings and safety drills.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • For the role of rigger/inspector of temporarily installed lifting equipment:
  • Ensure that rigging is performed correctly according to requirements.
  • Inspect and approve rigging performed by other personnel.
  • Responsible for loose lifting equipment, maintenance, pre- and post-use checks, issue and return.
  • Ensure that all lifting equipment issued is certified and in good condition.
  • Responsible for fall protection equipment, maintenance, pre- and post-use checks, issue and return, as well as user training.

Experience

  • Offshore experience as a deck and maintenance operator
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Good command of both Norwegian and English
  • Experience with FPSO and tank work is preferred
  • Positive approach to a busy workday and safety-conscious
  • Good computer skills
  • Gas measurement course for entry
  • Training and experience with scaffolding offshore is preferred
